A Travessa
This is a Madragoa institution that has been around since 1978 and is currently still run by one of its original owners. A Travessa has occupied its current location in the Convento das Bernardas do Mocambo since 1998. It continues to be a unification point for artists, politicians, and diplomats from the French and Belgian Embassies close by who find the allure of this 1653 convent and its charming outdoor cloister hard to resist. The food is classic, and refined, taking inspiration from French as well as Portuguese gastronomy.
Insider Tip:
In the winter, one can cozy up indoors in the main dining hall around their giant fireplace.
