Marta Figueiredo
Portuguese
Estrela da Bica
“Cooking will always be my primary form of communication", Marta starts by saying. With a Portuguese mother and Brazilian father, she was born in Lisbon in 1976. Both her parents worked at TAP, so travelling around the world helped shape her life from an early age, and highlighted her passion for cooking.
“Even before deciding to be a cook, I was already a cookbook maniac and cooked a lot for friends”, Marta underlined. After working in cinema and receiving musical training at the Hot Clube Portugal, she decided to try professional cuisine at the former Vírgula restaurant, headed by Bertílio Gomes (currently at Taberna Albricoque, also in Lisbon), where she arrived recommended by one of the partners, Rui Luís Malva, a colleague of her mother at TAP.
