The perfect match between urban flair and country calm

Welcome to Independente, the newest addition to Comporta’s hospitality scene, designed to cater to travelers eager to immerse themselves in the enchanting Alentejo region. This hotel promises a laid-back, friendly atmosphere, perfect for those who seek to travel without formalities.

Urban flair and country calm tie the knot at Independente Comporta. Think cabernet-red fireside sofas, retro poolside furniture, and rooms adorned with art – it’s the perfect playground for the creatively inclined. Whether you’re settling into a roomy villa with the fam or snuggling up in a cozy love nest for two, the vibe is just right.

After your adventures in the countryside or your leisurely poolside lounging, the fun continues at the indulgent Portuguese restaurant and the lively poolside pizza bar. Picture this: sociable soirées under the stars, where laughter and great food flow freely. This delightful combination of city style and rural relaxation? It’s a match made to last!

Brothers Duarte, Martim, and Bernardo D'Eça Leal, along with Afonso Queiroz, are the visionaries behind the four Independente properties in Lisbon and Comporta. This latest venture, being their first project outside a city, is a true labor of love, reflecting their deep connection to and passion for the region.

Rooms & Villas

Drawing inspiration from traditional Portuguese 'aldeias' (small villages), Independente Comporta offers a variety of accommodations, including 34 courtyard villas and 40 hotel rooms. These villas, ranging from studios to 5-bedroom houses, have become highly sought-after, with many being sold and fostering a loyal base of returning guests. This has created a vibrant sense of community, which is a key element of the brand's ethos.

The design of the rooms and villas clearly places the local area at the forefront. All decor comes from local artisans, such as ceramic wall sconces handmade in the neighboring town of Melides, handwoven lamps from Évora, and handmade rugs from Alentejo weavers. The floors are also handmade, following traditional decorative techniques of the region.

Rooms are bright and spacious, with wonderfully large beds. A special shout out to the pillows – they’re so good you might just want to take them home. The terrace-toting Pool Side Rooms are within diving distance of the main pool, perfect for quick dips, while the Two and Three Bedroom Villas boast private gardens and swimming pools, ideal for families and larger groups.

Families and Pets: The villas are family-friendly, with ample space and private pools in some. A car is necessary for extended entertainment. Villas are pet-friendly, but hotel rooms are not.

Independente Comporta's gastronomic offer promotes the best local flavours and products!
